This one-off award is for makers in the first three years of their practice, working in England. Since its launch in 1973, over 1,220 awards have been given.

The CCDA is awarded four times a year, to work selected by an external panel of established makers, on quality and originality alone. Applications are via images in the first phase, after which a number of applicants will be invited through to interview.
