Cape Farewell brings artists, scientists and educators together to raise awareness about climate change. Created by artist David Buckland in 2001, Cape Farewell has led five expeditions to the High Arctic; the frontline of climate change.
This year the Crafts Council is supporting Tracey Rowledge to be a part of the next Cape Farewell to Greenland, that sets sail in September 2008. This will be the first year a craft maker has been selected to join this significant project. It reflects the changing status of contemporary craft within the visual arts and recognises the importance of a contribution from artists within this field to a unique cultural project.
For twelve days – from Thursday 25 Sept to Monday 6 Oct – you’ll be able to follow the voyage in blogs, broadcast texts, images and video direct from the deck of the boat as they sail through the extraordinary Disko Bay.
